More Simple Pleasures...
Today was one of those days when I floated about in ethereal bliss. These days do not come along often, so when I find myself blessed with one I enjoy it to the hilt. Although I must apologize to my dear friend, Kim, because I was so peacefully ethereal I was totally out of it when I saw her at the market...so to Kim, you are absolutely wonderful and it is always a pleasure to see you. And therein is a perfect example of my many simple pleasures...the unexpected meeting of someone I really like.

Suffocating On Togetherness...
Funny, less than a week ago the Christmas vacation had not yet even begun. Along with sugar plums dancing in the heads of my little angels were visions of all the fun escapades to fill the break from school. Games to play, crafts to create, stories to read, fun times. How quickly they forget...

You Say You Want A Resolution...
No one says it better than Calvin. While I am not fond of the idea of creating a list for myself every year that I am doomed to abandon within thirty days, I find myself setting expectations just the same.

Four Things...
As I have previously mentioned, I have met some pretty amazing people in this blogging world we occupy. Among Sara, David, and Adrienne, I have also become quite enamored with Stepping My Way To Bliss. I encourage you to meet these folks as well.
Feast Of The Holy Family...
In the Catholic Church, today is the Feast of the Holy Family. As I listened to the readings proclaimed in Mass this morning, it got my little head a-thinkin' and what I came up with is this...

Mon Petit Ange...
At this most holy time of year, I wish to remember my grandfather, George Schaffer. This short story was written last year in honor of him and won a writing contest. So as we sit down with our families this Christmas, may we remember all the women and men who fight for us as well as the families they leave behind to do so.

More Of The Truth Game...
Okay, here's the situation. All of you on Facebook (my totally guilty pleasure/time-suck/vessel of major communication) are probably familiar with the little icon habitually popping up on your page informing you so-and-so has answered a question about you, and don't you wanna know what they said?

Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life...
I don't know about you, but I am a tremendous fan of Monty Python. I don't care who you are...arms for the poor and bring out your dead (I'm not dead yet)...that is funny stuff. And now for something completely different...

Bisou, Bisou...
I am a very kissy, huggy person. This is just another thing I absolutely love about the culture in France. No mere handshakes there...they say hello with a kiss and sometimes two.

Let The Children Come To Me...
Today, the last Sunday of Advent, is Youth Day in our Church. This means the Mass is led by one of the Faith Formation grades; the students are the greeters, ushers, gift-bearers, Lectors, etc. Today was my class's turn to lead the Mass.

Faster Than A Speeding Bullet...
Faster than a speeding bullet...more powerful than a locomotive...able to tear down in a single bound...unfortunately, it's not a bird, or a train, or even a superhero in blue tights. It's my mouth. And it has a tendency to engage before my brain.

It's Not Just About The Cookies...
As you many be aware, I love to cook. Along this school of thought, I also love to bake. This works out well because I have a family inclusive of three teenagers who all really love to eat.

Press #1 To Continue In English...
I know I am currently in the midst of pursuing my degree, but I have never been known as dumb by any stretch of the imagination. However, after my conversation this evening with National Grid, I was left thinking, "It must be me..."

A Candle In The Window...
We are well into Advent with only one week left to go. I am happy to share that tonight I finished this semester and am ready to embrace the Christmas season. Let the decorating and preparation begin!

Life And Other Surprises...
Life with all of its experiences is beautiful. And the older I get, I am more and more amazed with how I interact with these experiences.

Help Or Get Out Of The Way...
Okay, here's the deal...in any given situation we can choose to be either part of the problem or part of the solution.

Baby, I Like It...
Tonight I came home and decided it was time to get back on the treadmill. After receiving skeptical looks from the entire family, I loaded my iPod and got to it. When I work out, my genre is definitely the club music. The base pumping in my ears pushes me beyond the limits and I love it.

You'll Always Be My Baby...
Even as I write this, it does not seem possible. My baby, the youngest of our three magnificent children, is turning twelve years old.

Sylvia...
I shall never put you together entirely
but oh, how you do fascinate.
Did your heart break so completely
you never could really relate?

The Wonder Of It All, Baby...
First of all, thank you to my Boss who tolerates me singing while I work. I hope he doesn't go deaf with these inhuman sounds...

Simple Pleasures...
Today was a really great day...one of those days when you accomplish so much you don't want it to end. And this evening when I returned home after class, I was inundated with simple pleasures to bring this wonderful day to a close and prepare me to do it again tomorrow.

Does Anyone Here Know...What Christmas Is All About?
Today, November 28th, is the first Sunday of Advent. I see some neighbors have their holiday lights lit and I've read the posts of those already done with Christmas shopping (I loathe you people...okay, not really...maybe just a little bit.)
The Connection...
The Connection Is...
Amazing, allowing the one voice to
rise above the crowd, reassuring presence
is near.

My Bed Is Calling Me...
For the most part, I love everything I do. When it is no longer enjoyable to me, I don't do it anymore. Life is too short not to live it to the fullest. This goes for my job, my hobbies, music I listen to, volunteering, just about everything. It insures I am giving all of myself to whatever I choose to do ~ never lazy and always immersed in the experience.

I Could Be A Rock Chick...
Last night I was "talking" on Facebook with an old friend (meaning long-time, not geriatric) who informed me Disturbed will be coming to our area in the near future, so we made plans to keep in touch and definitely get to the show. This prompted another friend (geriatric - ha! ha! sorry Mike, just kidding...no, really) to chime in that this show would probably be a little too heavy for me. Seriously?

It Seemed Like A Great Idea At The Time...
This was a busy but productive weekend. To close the long day, I thought a luxurious bubble bath would be absolutely wonderful, and since I do not indulge as often as I should I pulled out all the stops.

A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Show...
No doubt about it, I am a movie freak. I can get lost in a movie and then get up and go get lost in another one. Sadly, it seems like we movie-geeks have had slim pickens for too long.

Welcome To My Salon...
I really enjoy a good conversation. In depth, stimulating, thought-provoking. And this desire for good conversation makes me envy the days gone by of fashionable salons hosting intellectual discussion and debate.

Enduring The Test Of Time...
When I shared last weekend's Walk With The Lizard King, I had no idea what was transpiring in Florida.

If I Knew The Way...I Would Take You Home...
Today was just one of those days. You know, the why-did-I-get-out-of-bed-and-think-I-ever-wanted-a-mortgage-and-responsibilities-rather-than-be-a-hermit kinda days.

Contentious Just For The Sake Of Being So...
Okay...so a not-so-funny situation presented itself the other day, and I think I have let enough time pass to comment without going over the line. I think.

Walking With The Lizard King...
Today was a beautiful day in Upstate New York, so I grabbed my iPod and went for a five-mile walk. With the Lizard King. As I walked, I reminisced on how this relationship with Mr. Mojo Risin began.

To My Son On His 16th Birthday...
This has been a year of many milestones. Today my oldest child...my only son...turns 16 years old. Everyone told me it would fly right by, but I never expected it to go so quickly.

Anticipation Is Making Me Wait...
Alright, alright...I have just shown my age by mentioning this Carly Simon song used to hawk Heinz ketchup back in the day. Generally, there are many Carly Simon songs I really like...this was never one of them.

The Better Part Of Valor Is Discretion...
I was thinking this morning, once again while watching the Today show, how sad a statement that discretion seems to be a dying virtue.

Forget Points...Count Your Passions...
There is a growing epidemic amongst women determined to suck the joy out of everything life has to offer. Now, before a world-wide organization creates delusions of suing the pants off me, please know a) you can't get blood from a stone and b) deep down you know I am on to something here.

In Case You Didn't Know...
I was at an event today with women from all walks of life. Despite the disparity in age, height, weight, attitude, and personalities, I have discovered some veritable universal truths that I am compelled to share with you.
