More Simple Pleasures...

Today was one of those days when I floated about in ethereal bliss. These days do not come along often, so when I find myself blessed with one I enjoy it to the hilt. Although I must apologize to my dear friend, Kim, because I was so peacefully ethereal I was totally out of it when I saw her at the market...so to Kim, you are absolutely wonderful and it is always a pleasure to see you. And therein is a perfect example of my many simple pleasures...the unexpected meeting of someone I really like.

Suffocating On Togetherness...

Funny, less than a week ago the Christmas vacation had not yet even begun. Along with sugar plums dancing in the heads of my little angels were visions of all the fun escapades to fill the break from school. Games to play, crafts to create, stories to read, fun times. How quickly they forget...

You Say You Want A Resolution...

No one says it better than Calvin. While I am not fond of the idea of creating a list for myself every year that I am doomed to abandon within thirty days, I find myself setting expectations just the same.

Four Things...

As I have previously mentioned, I have met some pretty amazing people in this blogging world we occupy. Among Sara, David, and Adrienne, I have also become quite enamored with Stepping My Way To Bliss. I encourage you to meet these folks as well.

Feast Of The Holy Family...

In the Catholic Church, today is the Feast of the Holy Family. As I listened to the readings proclaimed in Mass this morning, it got my little head a-thinkin' and what I came up with is this...

Mon Petit Ange...

At this most holy time of year, I wish to remember my grandfather, George Schaffer. This short story was written last year in honor of him and won a writing contest. So as we sit down with our families this Christmas, may we remember all the women and men who fight for us as well as the families they leave behind to do so.

More Of The Truth Game...

Okay, here's the situation. All of you on Facebook (my totally guilty pleasure/time-suck/vessel of major communication) are probably familiar with the little icon habitually popping up on your page informing you so-and-so has answered a question about you, and don't you wanna know what they said?

Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life...

I don't know about you, but I am a tremendous fan of Monty Python. I don't care who you are...arms for the poor and bring out your dead (I'm not dead yet)...that is funny stuff. And now for something completely different...

Bisou, Bisou...

I am a very kissy, huggy person. This is just another thing I absolutely love about the culture in France. No mere handshakes there...they say hello with a kiss and sometimes two.

Let The Children Come To Me...

Today, the last Sunday of Advent, is Youth Day in our Church. This means the Mass is led by one of the Faith Formation grades; the students are the greeters, ushers, gift-bearers, Lectors, etc. Today was my class's turn to lead the Mass.

Faster Than A Speeding Bullet...

Faster than a speeding bullet...more powerful than a locomotive...able to tear down in a single bound...unfortunately, it's not a bird, or a train, or even a superhero in blue tights. It's my mouth. And it has a tendency to engage before my brain.

It's Not Just About The Cookies...

As you many be aware, I love to cook. Along this  school of thought, I also love to bake. This works out well because I have a family inclusive of three teenagers who all really love to eat.

Press #1 To Continue In English...

I know I am currently in the midst of pursuing my degree, but I have never been known as dumb by any stretch of the imagination. However, after my conversation this evening with National Grid, I was left thinking, "It must be me..."

A Candle In The Window...

We are well into Advent with only one week left to go. I am happy to share that tonight I finished this semester and am ready to embrace the Christmas season. Let the decorating and preparation begin!

Le RĂªve...

I dreamed a beautiful dream
your finger tracing my spine
dancing nerves alive
weakened from your kiss.

Life And Other Surprises...

Life with all of its experiences is beautiful. And the older I get, I am more and more amazed with how I interact with these experiences.

Help Or Get Out Of The Way...

Okay, here's the deal...in any given situation we can choose to be either part of the problem or part of the solution.

Baby, I Like It...

Tonight I came home and decided it was time to get back on the treadmill. After receiving skeptical looks from the entire family, I loaded my iPod and got to it. When I work out, my genre is definitely the club music. The base pumping in my ears pushes me beyond the limits and I love it.

You'll Always Be My Baby...

Even as I write this, it does not seem possible. My baby, the youngest of our three magnificent children, is turning twelve years old.

Sylvia...

I shall never put you together entirely
but oh, how you do fascinate.
Did your heart break so completely
you never could really relate?

The Wonder Of It All, Baby...

First of all, thank you to my Boss who tolerates me singing while I work. I hope he doesn't go deaf with these inhuman sounds...
