I am a very blessed individual and was reminded just how much the evening before Thanksgiving.
In my previous everything-had-to-be-Martha-Stewart-perfect-for-the-holidays life, I never went out the evening before Thanksgiving. Not a precious moment could be wasted on such frivolity as hanging with friends...there were pies to me made, floors to be washed, tablecloths to be pressed.
However, the past years I have kicked the Martha complex to the curb and this year did go out the night before Thanksgiving...and into Thanksgiving morning. I met up with people I have been friends with for over 20 years, yet never get to see. And here is where the blessings come in...
These are the people I ran with in my teens and early twenties. These are the friends who attended my wedding. These are my friends I danced with until we closed the bars every weekend and then went out to breakfast. These are my friends that I can go years without seeing yet pick up right where we left off like it was only yesterday.
As 2:00 a.m. creeped upon us, I didn't care about the monster bird needing to go in the oven in four hours...all I knew was I did not want the evening to end. I love these people and have made a resolution that I will not let so much time pass before we go tear up the dance floor again.
I am blessed with many, many friends...many wonderful people in my life. These folks will always hold a special place in my heart ~ they knew me when. And Michael, when you said I still look the same as I did in high school....well....I'm sorry your eyesight is going but I appreciate it just the same. I love you guys and look forward to our next big night out ~ and this time breakfast is on me.
Way to kick Martha to the curb!
