Barbie Gets A Bum Rap...

I really enjoy perusing the New York Times. Some of the random stuff I find mixed in with current events I am so obviously out of touch about really gives me fodder for pondering. Tonight's reading was no exception.

Laughing At Myself...

Thank you, Bill Watterson, for all the happiness you gave me through the imagination of a little boy and his stuffed tiger. Calvin's existentialisism coupled with Hobbes matter-of-factness made for some of the best comics I have ever read. Therefore, I thought they would be most appropriate to assist with me with yet another rendition of "Someone Just Answered A Question About You!" from The Truth Game on Facebook. Hey, if you can't laugh at yourself...well...lighten up.

Luxury Defined...

Last week I shared my little treasure, A Guide to Elegance by Genevieve Antoine Dariaux. Originally published in 1964, this is a great read with many topics relevant today. In fact, in a world of Snookies and
LiLo's, it should probably be required reading for all females.

Run, Mary, Run...

Yesterday I shared with everyone ten bloggers who have become an inspiration to me. Before I began sharing the maniacal rantings of my world, I did not even know these great people. Today I dedicate this post to a blogger I knew back when...back before both of us were bloggers and back before she became involved in the fight for her life.

Inspiration In My World...

Thank you, thank you, thank you, to wonderful Paul who honored me with The Inspiration Award! It is a true blessing to me to have been an inspiration to someone...especially someone whom I admire. Our mutual admiration for Meg Ryan and Michele Pfeiffer has forged a friendship I treasure.

To Thine Own Self Be True...

Some time ago I purchased this lovely little book adorned in Tiffany Blue on a whim. First published in 1964, it is interesting how some of its content has stood the test of time.

A Girl Can Dream...

Today turned into yet another cold and rainy day in Upstate New York. So in total denial of Spring's now-past-fashionably-late arrival, I closed my eyes to dream. And it was wonderful...

Fair-Weathered Friends...

Today is Palm Sunday, the beginning of the holiest week of the year in the Catholic faith. But this year hearing the Passion really made me stop and think about my own actions in a way I had not considered before.

You...

Today the warm wind blew
and danced across my face
as thoughts of you jumped
through my mind and forced
my heart to race.

Check Yourself Before You Wreck Yourself...

The experience I am about to relay actually took place five days ago...but it took me this long to process all of it to share with you. Well, that and to get my eyesight back. I was blind after what I saw last Friday evening.

Oh, There's Something Blowin' In The Wind Alright...

Leave it to my BFF, Maureen Dowd, to call it like she sees it. This is one of the things I love about Maureen...icon or not she is gonna call you out if you get in her cross hairs.

Walk With Spring...

Today the Spring sun said to me,
"Come put your tools away.
Let's walk together, you and I,
there are things I'd like to say."

Spring Has Sprung!

Oh, happy day! Spring finally made an appearance in Upstate New York... and I didn't waste a moment of it.

Face, Heart, Words, And Actions...

Last evening's post relayed my shame in believing I occasionally behave like a spoiled brat. While I don't always share my world with my children, my youngest daughter did see this post and my confession to you, dear reader. She became upset with my self-admonishment as she does not see this side of me at all. Ah, God bless the children.

And You're How Old?

Sometimes folks just don't have a grasp on reality. Sometimes folks who are well into adult-hood have the capability of behaving like spoiled little brats. Sometimes I am one of these folks.

A Dreamy Kind Of Wonderful...

Today was one of those days when I felt everything floated. Not saying it was sans concern, but floated like the clouds cascading the skies.

I'm Still Listening to Wax, I'm Not Using The CD...

No doubt about it...we are a music family. All three of my children play instruments and I have shared with you, dear reader, my love for singing. I never said it was good singing, but it is a form of an animal in pain singing nonetheless.

Finding Your Joy...

Today we had a visiting priest at Church. He is someone I have heard speak numerous times and never disappoints, which is generally true in my world of people who live their faith openly. Today he asked to direct his thoughts to the youth of our parish, and proceeded to share with them a life lesson: find your purpose and you will find your joy.

You Say It's Your Birthday...

No, today is not my birthday. My birthday is in July...but don't feel like you need to get me anything. However if you are compelled, wine, jewelry, books, chocolate, and anything French is appreciated. I'm not that deep...I like everything.
