Let Us Go In Peace...

Yes, I am Catholic. But there are times I could scream from the nonsense. This is not what Christ intended...it is man with all his humanity getting in and muddying the waters.

Admittedly, I am not a fan of this Pope. Ten minutes in the new Roman digs there were rumors of regressing to pre-Vatican II with masses returning to Latin. Bang up thought - goodness knows attendance is already lagging so proceeding in a different language should help considerably.

Then his ongoing participation with the scandal of covering for priests who had abused children was revealed. As a Cardinal, he could have absolutely taken steps to protect children. But no...not only did he protect these men, in 2001 he resurrected Crimen Sollicitationis, a document originally created in 1962 to instruct bishop's of how to handle these allegations (among other things) with a code of silence, and forwarded it to all bishops. Call me crazy, but apologizing now seems a little disingenuous.

If this was not sickening enough, he then went after Catholic sisters here in the States. Questioning their loyalty, investigations have been conducted with regards to their activity and calling into question their loyalty to their faith.

According to the New York Times, "Cardinal Levada sent a letter to the Leadership Conference saying an investigation was warranted because it appeared that the organization had done little since it was warned eight years ago that it had failed to “promote” the church’s teachings on three issues: the male-only priesthood, homosexuality and the primacy of the Roman Catholic Church as the means to salvation." Also reported, "Some sisters surmise that the Vatican and even some American bishops are trying to shift them back into living in convents, wearing habits or at least identifiable religious garb, ordering their schedules around daily prayers and working primarily in Roman Catholic institutions, like schools and hospitals."

Sadly, this Pope has called the ordination of women one of the gravest crimes of ecclesiastical law, on the same level as pedophilia. Seriously? Trying to create much of diversion, are ya'?

This is not what Christ intended for us when He died on the cross. Lest everyone forget...the women stayed as Mary wept. And when Christ rose again on the third day, the men were all hidden, locked away in an upstairs room. It was to Mary of Magdalene that Christ revealed Himself. You know her...she is the one men recorded as being a prostitute.

We need to recall the words of our Lord, to love God above all others and to love one another as ourselves. If we can do that, the rest will take care of itself. Now men, women and children; gay and straight; single, married, and divorced: let us go in peace to love and serve the Lord and one another.

Thanks be to God.
