Sylvia...

I shall never put you together entirely
but oh, how you do fascinate.
Did your heart break so completely
you never could really relate?

Perhaps you consider yourself an oracle
Relaying truth real women can't say.
Motherless children left here alone
When gas took your last breath away.

In my Victorian nightgown I try to imagine
the night terrorizing your day...
Was intelligence beyond this realm
keeping all emotions at bay?

I want to know, really understand
why this life you felt you must leave
motherless children and women like me
to savor your words but not grieve.

Dying is an art, like everything else
but for someone striving to be
an artist or poet for this beautiful world
I'm through analyzing Daddy.

Was his voice your madness echoing,
echoing lies all night in your head?
I shall never put you together entirely
sacrificing all for want to be dead.

  1. Sometimes dead is Ok for one's public persona but never for those close to us that we leave behind, then it just plain selfish.
I suppose we must hold artists to a different standard but that never eases the pain, which is the point.
