Now We Have A Discussion...

This is good. I mean, it is REALLY good. And I think it can only get better from here...

I recently shared how it is so confusing trying to learn the truth in today's world with the media spinning and twisting context into news.

Then I shared my thoughts, and added to, the latest raking of Sarah Palin over the coals for her most recent "mis-spoken" fact. It has been all over the media, along with "Weinergate" and tales of our President's birth certificate.

I am the first to admit I am a neophyte in the political arena. Hey, admitting it is the first step to recovery. Luckily, and I say this with no jest or sarcasm, this evening I had several Anonymous replies to these posts. One of them shared news I did not hear about my girl Maureen Dowd. And how she (I don't know if I can even say this dirty word)...plagerized another author. While I am currently curled up in the fetal position sucking my thumb as this feels the same as learning there is no Santa Claus, a sudden truth did occur to me.

Perhaps the reason I did not know of Maureen's SERIOUS breach of professional etiquette was because I didn't go looking for it. Perhaps if I take a stand to stop hiding behind this "lack of interest" and laissez faire attitude towards the political arena, I could demand more from my news resources.

Perhaps if we ALL demand better from the media, we will get more from the media. Perhaps if we as taxpayers demand more accountability from our government instead of hiding from what we don't understand, we could start to get somewhere as a nation.

So to Anonymous I must say thank you for shaking me out of my comfort zone. Luckily I have my friend to bounce this off of...I may even surprise him a little bit.  And if anyone wants to join me on this I-am-going-to-educate-myself-and-take-control journey, well, I say the more the merrier. You see, I found the whole School House Rock enchilada, but I'm not stopping there. By the time I'm done, I will be a knowledgeable force to be reckoned with.

  1. This is hilarious — but true! Every parent's questions, no doubt, especially in the beginning... I have heard that by the second or third child, they stop wondering such things as much as before :)

Hope you are having a lovely week, and start to June*
    xoxo
