Love Conquers All...

At the risk of letting my English Literature geekiness shine through, let me just go on record to say as a New Yorker I am thrilled our government finally caught up to Chaucer's 14th century Canterbury Tales proclamation: Amor Vincit Omnia. Translated from Latin: Love Conquers All.

This is a truth I've always know. Think I'm kidding? Grab my high school yearbook...ignore the hair (hey, it was the eighties) but read my quote: Amor vincit omnia. It was probably the only redeeming lesson learned after an entire year with the oppressive Mr. Touhey, but I digress...

In my world, I have always believed if you find someone to love...and that someone loves you back just as much...well, you are ahead of the game. The world can be a lonely place without someone to journey it with. Love comes in all different shapes, sizes, colors, and yes, even genders. And as anyone in love can tell you, it makes the world a beautiful place to be.

The current state of affairs finds us in wars we can't get out of, an economy we can't seem to get a handle on, and an education system failing our youth. But I have hope...love conquers all. Yes, it has come a few centuries later than many of us would have liked, but we are moving in the right direction. As David Viscott states, "To love and be loved is to feel the sun from both sides."

How wonderful so many can now openly feel the warmth of the sun. Thank you, New York.

  1. Your posts are so uplifting and profound that I find it difficult to add anything without sounding trite and banal.
I hope you'll accept that as a valid reason why I haven't commented much on here recently.

  3. First off I want to say awesome blog! I had a quick question that I'd like to ask if you do not mind. I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your mind prior to writing. I've had a
tough time clearing my thoughts in getting my ideas out. I truly do take pleasure in writing but
it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally wasted just
trying to figure out how to begin. Any recommendations or hints?
    Appreciate it!
