I'm Not Flattered...

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I guess so...but I say to be called an inspiration is the sincerest form of flattery. What I do not consider flattery, however, is someone stealing taking credit for my work.

For the first time, or at least the first time I am aware of, my words have been taken and another has attributed them as their own. For those who are not writers, you may say, "Big deal...who cares." Those of you who are writers...well, you know the big deal.

Truth be told, when I began blogging I was reticent. What if I had a thought so magnificent in nature, so creative, so world-changing...and someone took it? This quickly subsided as I met multitudes of amazing folks in the blogging world and nurtured friendships around the world. And less one think this happened in the cyber world, rest assured ~ it didn't. This offense occurred in my down-to-earth-material-world-inhabited-by-inhabitables.

As a student of higher-education, I am quite aware I could be kicked out of school for such an offense. Now I understand why. I have always taught my children if someone takes something of ours, well, I guess they needed it more than we did...I am too blessed to be stressed. Yet when it comes to my thoughts, my ideas, my creativity I cannot claim the same; it hits too close to home and feels like a violation of my person.

Sharing this with you has helped...it has to as there is no remedy or anything to be done. But next time one has an urge to take something of mine, let it be a cashmere sweater, or jewelry, or even my car...these things are much less valuable to me.
