Why Yes, I Do Take Requests...

It is not even December and I am in such holiday spirit I could burst. Go figure...

The day after Thanksgiving I put candles in all the windows and adorned the porch railings in pine boughs and holly. With it being an unseasonable sixty degrees outside the fragrance is quite strong, but this is a good thing for me because I could stand out there inhaling the intoxicating fragrance all day.

In addition to fragrance of balsam and evergreen, this time of year brings the wonderful awesomeness of...yes, you guessed it...Christmas music! All day, every day! And...and...I have the ability to listen to it at work all day long. What a great way to wile away the hours! And to make sure my co-workers are not the only ones benefiting from my amazing Susan Boyleness, I am excited to share some of my favorites with you.

Now it must be said, I am not shy about sharing my talent. In fact, when I had to step away from my desk today I was considerate enough to let my neighbor know that while she may believe it was me singing away, it was actually Celine Dion....if she needed me I would be in the next office for a little while. It's not her fault...I can understand how this mistake could occur.

It was great for me so many favorites were played today. You know, I have heard it said when you sing it is like you are praying twice. Well, when I sing I am sure prayers are said to the third power - two for me and one for whoever is listening for me to please stop. But I digress....

Without further ado, here are a few to get you into the holiday spirit:

This is a great song with a beautiful message and jazzy-reggae beat. I give it a ten because I can also dance to it.

I defy anyone to not be moved by this song, especially sung by Josh Groban - absolutely magical and this video created on you tube is amazing. Just a second while I wipe my eyes and blow my nose from sobbing like a baby...

Okay...I'm back. I know this is a short little clip but I adore this piece. And not to be hatin' but I think Charles Schulz pirated my fierce moves for these kiddos....I'm just saying...

This is another foot-tapping-gets-me-on-my-feet-a-dancing-as-I-sing-at-the-top-of-my-lungs song. Many a time I can be found dancing around my kitchen to Sir Elton and as a side note, here is a shout-out to my dear cousin Alan (Sir Elton's sound manager. Tres, tres, cool, eh?)

While I could stay here all night posting great holiday music, this last one makes me totally happy and while I share it for my buddy, MU, I also share it for my daughters who never fail to sing right along with me. Also in honor of them, I did not share Madonna's version of Santa Baby, which I adore but they can't stand.

I can hardly wait to get back to the office tomorrow for another day of productivity and song. I hope this little sample of happiness gets you in the mood to sing and dance along, too!

  1. The Charlie Brown Christmas dance has been a favorite of mine for as long as I can remember, and strolling through shops with Christmas decorations up, and Mariah Carey's, All I Want For Christmas, blaring from speakers puts me right in my happy place!
